【摘要】:Thistestmethodcanbeusedtoquantifyandcomparetheinsulationprovidedbydifferentclothingsystems.Forexample,variationsinthedesignandfabricusedincomponentgarmentscanbeevaluated.Theeffectsofgarmentlayering,closure,andfitcanbemeasuredforclothingensembles.Theinsulationvaluesforensemblescanbeusedinmodelsthatpredictthephysiologicalresponsesofpeopleindifferentenvironmentalconditions.Themeasurementoftheinsulationprovidedbyclothingiscomplexanddependentontheapparatusandtechniquesused.Itisnotpracticalinatestmethodofthisscopetoestablishdetailssufficienttocoverallcontingencies.Departuresfromtheinstructionsinthistestmethodhavethepotentialtoleadtosignificantlydifferenttestresults.Technicalknowledgeconcerningthetheoryofheattransfer,temperature,andairmotionmeasurement,andtestingpracticesisneededtoevaluatewhichdeparturesfromtheinstructionsgiveninthistestmethodaresignificant.Standardizationofthemethodreduces,butdoesnoteliminate,theneedforsuchtechnicalknowledge.Reportanydepartureswiththeresults.ReporttheinsulationvaluesinSIunitsorclounitsasstandardprocedure.ConversionfactorstootherunitsaregiveninTestMethodD1518.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheinsulationvalueofclothingensembles.Itdescribesthemeasurementoftheresistancetodryheattransferfromaheatedmanikintoarelativelycalm,coolenvironment.1.1.1Thisisastatictestthatprovidesabaselineclothingmeasurementonastandingmanikin.1.1.2Theeffectsofbodypositionandmovementarenotaddressedinthistestmethod.1.2Theinsulationvaluesobtainedapplyonlytotheparticularensemblesevaluatedandforthespecifiedenvironmentalconditionsofeachtest,particularlywithrespecttoairmovement.1.3ThevaluesstatedineithercloorSIunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Withinthetext,theSIunitsareshowninparentheses.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemarenotexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.1.4TheevaporativeresistanceofaclothingensemblecanbemeasuredinaccordancewithTestMethodF2370.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoconsultandestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
