【摘要】:Thisspecificationcoverstherequirementsforfully-formulatedglycolbasecoolantsforcoolingsystemsofheavy-dutyengines.Whenconcentratesareusedat40to60%glycolconcentrationbyvolumeinwaterofsuitablequality,(see),orwhenpredilutedglycolbaseenginecoolants(50volume%minimum)areusedwithoutfurtherdilution,theywillfunctioneffectivelyduringbothwinterandsummertoprovideprotectionagainstcorrosion,cavitation,freezing,andboiling.Thisspecificationisintendedtocovertherequirementsforenginecoolantspreparedfromvirginorrecycledethyleneorpropyleneglycol.CommitteeD15hasnotsubstantiallystudiedtheimpactofusingrecycledglycolsfromsourcessuchas:toprepareenginecoolants.However,severalseriouscasesofverypoorperformancehavebeenreportedandsubstantiatedinheavydutyfleetswhenrecycledglycolsfromsourcessuchasabovehavebeenusedtoprepareenginecoolants.Effortsareunderwaytomoreclearlydefinethepurityrequirementsforglycolsusedtoprepareenginecoolantsmeetingthisspecification,whetherfromrecycledenginecoolantsorothersources.Thecoolantsgovernedbythisspecificationarecategorizedasfollows:CoolantconcentratesmeetingthisspecificationdonotrequireanyadditionofSupplementalCoolantAdditive(SCA)untilthefirstmaintenanceintervalwhenamaintenancedoseofSCAisrequiredtocontinueprotectionincertainheavydutyenginecoolingsystems,particularlythoseofthewetcylinderliner-in-blockdesign.TheSCAadditionsaredefinedbyandaretheprimaryresponsibilityoftheenginemanufacturerorvehiclemanufacturer.Iftheyprovidenoinstructions,followtheSCAsupplier'sinstructions.ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
